Giant Turaco

A rare tropical presence, crowned silhouette and deep colors.

The Giant Turaco, the sole representative of its genus ( Corythaeola ) and subfamily, is one of the most unique birds in equatorial Africa. Related to cuckoos, it shares their discreet nature, but is distinguished by its rather spectacular appearance and intense colors.

Inhabiting dense tropical forests, the giant turaco most often lives alone or in small groups, perched high in the trees where it moves with agility. This naturalist piece pays homage to the tropical beauty of the species.
