The “ Topia series, started in 2024 and still ongoing, comes from organic elements gleaned by the artist Karine Merchez in places discovered during her travels and which particularly inspired her.

The plants thus harvested are then assembled using the ancestral and manual technique of weaving to form real paintings characterized by their poetic simplicity.

By following these plant scores, the spectator is invited to get into the rhythm of the artist and follow her in her wanderings, real or imagined, through the "fantasy landscapes" that are the topia .

Definition of topia :

From the Latin topiarus “gardener”, the word topia designated the garden of fantasy, the “fresco landscape”. From the ancient Greek tópos , “the place”.

These works are unique pieces, dated and signed.
