Samia Cynthia

Also known as the tree of heaven moth, Samia cynthia is a moth native to Asia, prized for its delicate, silvery-brown wings. Each wing, generally trapezoidal in shape, is crossed by translucent areas and a vertical pinkish-white band. Its crescent-shaped eyespots are a reminder of why it is also called the Crescent Moth.

The word Bombyx comes from the Greek "Bombux," meaning "silkworm." A symbol of elegance and softness, this species is known for the precious silk it produces, more rustic than that of Bombyx mori, but of a unique natural beauty.
