Polybothris sumptuosa Gemma

Native to Madagascar, *Polybothris sumptuosa superba* belongs to the Buprestidae family, nicknamed "jewel beetles" because of their metallic colors. Its iridescent shell blends green, blue, and turquoise reflections, changing with the angle of the light. Beyond its aesthetic brilliance, this species plays an essential ecological role, as its larvae participate in the decomposition of dead wood, contributing to the vital cycle of Malagasy forests.

Presented in a hermetically sealed, glass-fronted box for hanging, it is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphic label indicating its Latin name and origin. A brass plaque engraved with the Deyrolle name certifies the authenticity of this unique piece, from our collections.
