Emu egg

The emu egg is distinguished by its large size and its unique colour, an intense dark green, sometimes tending towards black. This deep shade is not uniform: looking closely, one notices a slightly grainy and marbled surface, composed of several layers of shades ranging from emerald green to midnight blue. The shell, extremely strong, can reach several millimetres thick, offering effective protection against predators. The emu ( Dromaius novaehollandiae ) is an emblematic bird of Australia and the second largest bird in the world after the ostrich.
