Morpho rhetenor

The Morpho rhetenor is considered one of the most spectacular butterflies in the world. Its electric blue wings seem to capture the light and transform it into a celestial brilliance. This fascinating color is not due to a pigment, but to the microstructure of its scales, which diffracts the light.

In this species, it is the males that display this intense blue, used to attract and impress mates, while the discreet brown underside of their wings allows them to blend into the vegetation. Presented in a sealed glass box for hanging, it is enhanced by a black frame on a black background.
