Morpho rhetenor
Morpho rhetenor
The Morpho rhetenor is considered one of the most spectacular butterflies in the world. Its electric blue, iridescent wings seem to capture light and transform it into a celestial brilliance. This fascinating color is not due to pigment, but to the microstructure of the scales that diffract light, a phenomenon called structural iridescence.
In this species, it is the males who sport this intense blue, used to seduce and impress, while the brown and discreet underside of their wings allows them to blend into the vegetation when they land. Presented in a hermetically sealed glass box for hanging, it is enhanced by a black frame on a black background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphic label, and a brass plate engraved with the Deyrolle name certifies the authenticity of the piece.
