Long-tailed jacamar

Presented at Deyrolle, this long-tailed jacamar (Galbula dea) is distinguished by its slender silhouette and long, graceful beak.

Native to the tropical forests of South America, it is recognizable by its plumage with metallic reflections and its elongated tail, which give it a singular elegance.

It feeds mainly on insects, which it catches in mid-flight, much like bee-eaters, thanks to its great precision and excellent visual coordination.
