Hamadryas laodamia
Hamadryas laodamia
A discreet yet remarkable species, Hamadryas laodamia is known for its unique acoustic characteristic: when it lands on bark, the males produce a sharp clicking sound thanks to a unique mechanism in their wings. This butterfly displays a dark velvet pattern speckled with turquoise spots.
Presented in a hermetically sealed glass-fronted box, this specimen is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphed label, indicating its Latin name and origin. A brass plaque engraved with the name Deyrolle certifies the authenticity of this unique piece, from our collections.
