Scarlet Bee-eater

Faithfully preserved, the scarlet bee-eater (Merops nubicus) embodies the characteristic traits of the Meropidae, a widespread family of tropical birds between Senegal and Somalia . Sporting crimson and brown plumage, it is distinguished by a beryl-green head, turning towards turquoise-olive, framed by a fine black mask, and a slightly curved black beak. Its long tail, fanned out, illustrates an elegant morphology such a scarlet arrow. This taxidermy is presented on a deliberately aged wooden base.
