Graphium weiskei

This Purple Spotted Swallowtail, one of the jewels of the Papua New Guinea highlands, looks as if it has been painted in watercolor. Its dark brown velvet is illuminated by patches of emerald green, punctuated with touches of mauve and blue, a chromatic combination unique in the world of Papilionidae.

Presented in a hermetically sealed glass-fronted box, this specimen is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphed label, indicating its Latin name and origin. A brass plaque engraved with the name Deyrolle certifies the authenticity of this piece.
