Creation by visual artist Karine Merchez of a globe of seeds and flowers from Australia.
The "Terra incognita" series began in 2019 and is still ongoing, following in the tradition of the Great Expeditions of the 19th century.
Like a cabinet of curiosities, this “Return from Tasmania” globe concentrates a whole world in its space.
Collecting, harvesting, gleaning, inventorying and presenting: such was the mission of the explorers, whose scientific method aimed to bear witness to their discoveries.
Here, the gesture is reproduced, but the place is frozen, like a three-dimensional herbarium that invites us on a journey.
