Cyclommatus metallifer finae
Cyclommatus metallifer finae
*Cyclommatus metallifer finae* belongs to the Lucanidae family, better known as "stag beetles" because of the immense mandibles of the males. These, as spectacular as they are ornamental, are used in ritual fights to impress or repel rivals. Behind this warrior-like appearance, however, lies a discreet ecological role, its larvae contributing to the decomposition of dead wood and the renewal of tropical forests.
Presented in a hermetically sealed, glass-fronted box for hanging, it is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphic label, mentioning its Latin name and origin. A brass plate engraved with the Deyrolle name certifies the authenticity of this unique piece, from our collections.
