Common Marmoset Skull

This skull of a common marmoset ( Callithrix jacchus ), a small Neotropical primate of the Callitrichidae family, is characterized by a rounded cranium, large, forward-facing eye sockets indicating well-developed stereoscopic vision, and a short rostrum bearing fine teeth adapted to a specialized omnivorous diet of insects, fruits, and plant exudates, the latter extracted with robust, slightly projecting incisors. This specimen has been carefully mounted on a base in our workshops to provide both an educational and aesthetically pleasing display.
