Fugu skull

This skull belongs to a fugu, an iconic pufferfish from Asian waters.

It has a massive, rounded appearance on its wooden base, with wide, well-developed frontal bones that form a protective dome. The orbital openings are relatively large, and the bony plates are finely articulated.

The upper and lower jaws are thick and powerful, and the visible sutures on the cranial plates illustrate the strength and lightness of the skeleton.
