At the heart of the composition sits a shell of Haliotis iris, also known as paua, native to New Zealand. Its mother-of-pearl creates a play of shifting reflections reminiscent of the ocean's ever-changing surface. Delicately perched upon it, Urania leilus butterflies unfurl their deep black wings, streaked with emerald green iridescence. The combination of these two elements creates a poetic dialogue between the different kingdoms of air and sea.
