Colotis ione female and male
Colotis ione female and male
Very similar in appearance but nonetheless distinct, the male and female Colotis ione are differentiated by their delicate patterns and the color of their wingtips, each edged with fine black lace. The female is shown here at the top, the male at the bottom. These specimens illustrate the impressive sexual dimorphism sometimes observed in the Lepidoptera kingdom.
Presented in a hermetically sealed glass-fronted box, it is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphed label, indicating its Latin name and origin. A brass plaque engraved with the name Deyrolle certifies the authenticity of this unique piece, from our collections.
