Caligo atreus

The Caligo atreus, a member of the Nymphalidae family and the Morphinae subfamily, reveals on this side the sobriety of its velvety brown contrasted by an elegant gradient of golden ochre. Less spectacular than its eyespot-shaped ocelli, this profile highlights another strategy: discretion and camouflage.

Presented in a hermetically sealed, glass-fronted box for hanging, it is enhanced by a black frame on a white background, which emphasizes the rich color of its wings. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphic label, mentioning its Latin name and origin. A brass plate engraved with the Deyrolle name certifies the authenticity of this piece.
