Shield

This is a Bamileke shield, which comes from western Cameroon. It takes its name from the Bamiléké people from which it originates. These shields are built from solid wood, and their decorations vary depending on the tribes and communities. Historically, these shields were used during wars and tribal conflicts but also during rituals and ceremonies.
