Alcides orontes

Alcides orontes is a rare and magnificent butterfly. Its black body seems to be traversed by a wave of light. Its hindwings are serrated, as if adorned with fine dark lace.

Presented in a hermetically sealed glass-fronted box, it is enhanced by a black frame on a white background. Each specimen is carefully identified by a calligraphed label, indicating its Latin name and origin. A brass plaque engraved with the name Deyrolle certifies the authenticity of this unique piece, from our collections.
