Deyrolle participates in PhotoSaintGermain: a journey through images

On the occasion of PhotoSaintGermain, Deyrolle invites you to discover a little-known facet of its history through a selection of 48 glass photographic slides from the Jean-Marie Donat collection.

At the beginning of the 20th century, true to its mission of passing on knowledge, the House of Deyrolle developed the production of glass slides, intended to be projected using magic lanterns. Made in Paris, in the Quatre-Septembre district, these images allowed the greatest number of people to discover the world, at a time when traveling remained a privilege.

A true visual encyclopedia, this collection covers more than 11 500 subjects, from botany to geography, passing through anatomy, mineralogy, industry, and natural phenomena. Each photograph bears witness to Deyrolle's desire to make knowledge accessible to everyone.

Between photography, science, and the history of education, this exhibition plunges us back in time to a time when a simple glass slide and a beam of light were enough to make minds travel.

An exceptional evening on Thursday, November 26, at 6:30 p.m.

To bring these images back to life, Deyrolle will welcome Bruno Carrez, who will present a magic lantern projection, accompanied on the cello by Philippe Pennanguer.

A singular moment to rediscover the magic of images from days gone by, in the heart of the House of Deyrolle.

Free entry, subject to the availability of places.
